This is a cradle for the storage of dial indicators. It is designed to fit in the same space that a Schaller Bin would, typically in a drawer like in a Lista cabinet. It allows for a standard mounting tang to protrude from the back of the dial indicator. It has many openings to minimize material usage, and to prevent the collection of.... schmutz.
This version was designed for a fairly standard Federal dial indicator, and may fit other types and brands. However, it is known that Mitutoyo has its dial lock screw in a different location and will not fit. Also, very long stems and protective covers (at 12- and 6-o'clock) may protrude. Other designs are coming, as I have other types of dial indicators, as well.
I made these out of PETG, but any material would do. The red color is to match the Shaller Bins that I use (see upper left corner of first image). These were printed on a Lulzbot with a 0.8mm nozzle and 0.5mm layer heights.
