I purchased a inexpensive (ok cheap) Chinese dial indicator with a magnetic holder base. From the first time I used it I found to almost imposable to get it adjusted where I wanted. So here is my solution.
The dial indicator I have has a rectangular tap with a hole through it for mounting to a holder. Rod on magnetic base is 10mm.
Parts are all PLA printed 100% infill. Hex holes for bolt and nut are all tight so you need to use a bolt and nut to pull them in.
In addition you need 2 @1/4 nuts and bolts. I used course thread because I had them but fine threaded would be better.

Good luck
