Dipods are car creatures that have completely lost the wheels of their fused hindlimb in favor of a 2-wheeled design (dipod means "2 foot"). This limits the size of any given species because this body plan becomes less stable as size (and therefore weight) increases. One highly social species of dipod is is sometimes called the Polypede Chain Train. Each individual possesses a long, forward facing process extending from above the mouth. This rigid "snout" is used as a navigation tool, pushing aside pebble-sized objects in search of food. The organisms still retain part of their hindlimb, utilizing it as an aid for balance.
