This is designed to hold the bullet casing on display from a funeral honor guard salute firing. I believe those are .30 caliber shells, but not certain.
V2 walls do not go as far around the bullet casing, which allowed the casing to be easily snapped in place from the front. The screw hole recess was also improved to better fit #4 flat head wood screws.
