This is more of a concept than a model you’ll necessarily use as-is, but it’s something I hope you’ll find useful. I often struggle when models require supports. They tend to waste material, appear in places I don’t want them, stick too firmly, leave ugly marks, and cause a handful of other issues I won’t list right now.
Yes, slicers offer tools to control this, and you can even add custom support blocks - but even then I often end up with so-so results or run into the same problems again.
While updating a few of my own designs, I hit a case where I needed a very small support for a tiny area. The moment I enabled supports, I got way too much everywhere, and I was facing the time-consuming chore of manual tweaking. That’s when I thought: wouldn’t it be simpler, faster, and more controllable to build the support myself, right into the workflow?
Hence this little example. I made a small “extra” part - separate from the main model - that is quick to place/build, sturdy enough to stand
