EDIT: I have included updated models. The pins are slightly thicker, making them more robust when printed at a smaller size. I've gone ahead and added the A-form DNA versions as well (GC-a and AT-a).
I was working on a blender script to automatically pin ball-and-stick nucleic acid models. I tested it using an idealized B-form DNA model (Coot).
Workflow:
Coot (model)
PyMol (ball-and-stick representation)
Blender (automatic pinning script and unionize)
These were printed 0.2 mm, supports, in PLA at 195C.
I would recommend using a raft or putting supports under/around any spheres that will be down on the build plate. They have a tendency to pull off.
The pins do need a little cleaning up, but I've made the holes in the phosphate slightly larger than the pins so it shouldn't need too much.
