Two Duplo-compatible and two Lego-compatible bricks that can be used for benchmarking:
* 3D filament printers
* slicers
* your skills
This benchmark is much tougher than it looks. In essence it will test:
* 1st layer printing (if that fails, the rest may too)
* Roofs with pillars. That is a big challenge for high-resolution filament printers. So far, I didn't see any picture of any printer/slicer profile that can do this correctly.
* Stringing
* Warping and over night printing (the big piece)
* Precision
The more colorful picture with less good results shows pieces made in May 2010 with a RapMan v3.1 and mostly Skeinforge with various settings. As of May 1 2010, Netfabb for RapMan produced better quality for the hand and Skeinforge did better with the bricks.
In Sept 2012, I exchanged the STL files for 0.2 to 0.25 layer printing. Most 2011/12 printers can do that. The picture with the blue bricks show a result.
