This door holder is a simple but effective design that I have been using in my house for the last year with no problems, so I thought it was time to share.

It will only work in the orientation shown in the photos, as it relies on gravity to drop the wedge into position. It will also require that you have a wall or beam where the door comes to rest.

The design has two parts. The frame needs to be printed on its side with support for the upper arm, the wedge is printed on its back (upsidedown) and needs support for the small overhang.

You will need a M3 x 30mm bolt and a nut - and some locktite, super glue or nail varnish to hold the nut (not too tight).

I used PLA for my first design, which worked fine until one of my stronger friends tried to close the door when it was held. I printed the new version in PETG at 0.2 layer height.

The only disadvantage is that you need to be able to reach to the top of the door to release the holder. Not a problem for me and my short (ish
