In short, these are two adaptor rings to allow replacing an old front door lock with a new one in aluminium framed doors.
Recently, I had to change out my front door lock. Once I removed the lock from the aluminium door, I discovered that the lock had a huge internal barrel which houses the mechanism. The mechanism converts the rotational force of twisting the handle to a horizontal force used to draw the bolt open.
However when I went to buy a replacement, I found that this kind of lock is old fashioned. Instead, the new type have 3 posts, 2 screw posts and the centre one is keyed to twist the bolt mechanism which then draws the bolt open.
The problem here was that I had this huge round hole in the door which I was going to put almost nothing into. I needed a way to stop the door knobs from slopping around.
What I determined in the end was that if I made a ring that the door knob escutcheon could bed into and that ring keyed into the hole in the door, then there would be
