double bolder Den Helder

a miniture version of the ‘dubbele bolder’ in my home town the city of Den Helder. A maritime icon is a sign in which the deep connection with the sea and maritime shipping coincide in form and meaning. In Den Helder it is about the story of the local identity that this city embodies: tough and energetic, solid and down-to-earth. The bronze, robustly anchored six-metre high bollard shows this. The shape of a bollard - two linked crosses - symbolizes solidarity and characterizes 'keeping both feet on the ground'.
