I and three other chemical engineering students used this to mold our soap for the final project in a second year engineering design class. I recommend using wax paper on the inside of the mold to make removing the finished product a little easier, and in general the cold process should be more or less complete before molding. Our formula required about five days of sitting to be ready.
The final formula was:
8.7g of lye
20ml of distilled water
47g of olive oil
15g of coconut oil
15g of shea butter
0.06g of activated carbon
This should give a final pH of around 9, which is pretty heavy duty, so it should be tested rigorously before use, to make sure you don't hurt yourself.
All the mixing should be done with gloves on.
The the mold requires that you assemble the side walls onto the base piece using the two crescent slots on either side of the body of the mold. You then press the top handle into the top of the mold (either the one with "wings" to keep the mold together, or th
