Testing dovetail design for fit and consistency. Adapted from InMoov torso plates.
Three models here, one of the assembly others of components.
Now there's two more models to print and the .step model that they were derived from.
Not being happy with the gaps at the sides of the dovetails when assembled (caused by flexing) or the gaps along the main surface, I've made a couple of variations that I think give a better joint without so much distortion of the model.
There are two different pattern dovetails on the model. By inverting one part to the other it is possible to test the joints individually. This true for the original files too.
Using a parametric CAD program (FreeCAD for example) the .step file can be modified to other dimensions for more experimentation.
