i incorporated a mirror reflector on both ends of the bottle. this allows us to have an unobstructed view in the center of the bottle. the mirror behind the LED in combination with an integral lens shaped cap focuses the beam to the top mirror which distributes that light downward in a radial spread, further diffused by the liquid media. i propose the bottle be mounted opposite to everyone else. This allows us to have service access without climbing on the roof. The gasketed plug design of the cap assures no leakage or evaporation of contents. the top mirror only occupies half of the bottle base, so there is adequate entry for sunlight. in fact there is less blockage, since there is no wiring on that end. AA cells are accessible by unscrewing the handle from the cap. there are 2 cells and a single LED. preliminary research revealed i could generate 20 lumens for 8 hours with fully charged cells, using an available generic LED driver circuit. to assure full charge, i moved the cell charging task to a remotely located unit. it tracks the sun angle east to west with a simple mechanical spring loaded timer attached to a pivot axis on the solar cell. this portable unit charges 2 AA cells at a time. by halving the number of cells, i make it more likely that you can acheive a full charge in a single day.
