I wanted to create something that shows my appreciation for the holiday traditions of other cultures. This dreidel is the classic Jewish spinning top that is played through Hanukkah. This one features a hole in the handle, allowing it to be used for decoration. If you want to use it for play, don't tie a string through the hole.
To play, each player starts out with a number of coins, candies, or other item. Play moves in a clockwise direction. At the start of each round, everyone places one item into the pot. Then, each player takes a turn spinning the dreidel. It will land on one of four sides, each of which dictate a different action.
נ (nun) do nothing: you don't win pieces, but you don't lose any either.
ש (shin) place one of your items into the pot.
ג (gimel) you take the contents of the entire pot.
ה (hay) take half of the pot: if the number is odd, round to the nearest whole and take that.
