This is a physics demonstration I designed to show how a Drop Tower type ride https://youtu.be/Fk4exX29Tzo
uses Lenz's Law to slow the fall of the "slider" that holds the riders. The demo consists of a length of CPVC pipe and a length of copper pipe, both 1/2 inch inside diameter. A short section of 1/2 inch wooden dowel connects the two sections of pipe. The 3D printed slider holds a neodymium ring magnet (K and J Magnetics RX8C4). You hold the pipe assembly with the CPVC at the top (free-fall portion) and have the copper pipe at the bottom to provide magnetic braking. I like the larger slider but I made the smaller (faster printing) one so I could give them away at my workshop.
