Description: This is designed to accept a Echo Dot Gen3, but an adapter ring is included which will allow a older Gen2 Dot to be used as well.
The original Candlestick telephone I designed for the Gen2 Dot could not be altered enough to accept a Gen3. If you will look at the photos included, you will be able to see why. The Gen3 is MUCH larger than a Gen2 Echo Dot!
So, the design had to be new and large enough to encase a Gen3. This made putting it in the speaker portion impossible, so it was moved to the base. A base ring was designed not only to give the Gen3 clearance, but to also allow venting holes, for better audio.
I think it looks good and works quite well at the job it was designed to do, hide the Echo Dot Gen3 in an attractive illusion of antiquity!
Printing. ALL of the parts were printed using PLA (CCTREE) on my CR-10s WITHOUT any supports. They turn out just fine. I print SLOW - @ 25mm/s print speed. If you choose to print faster then you may need supports, brim
