Eheim intake replacement and extension

I've found that heavier fish detritus doesn't get picked up by my Eheim filter where the intake is mid-way in my 2-ft high tank.

Here's a replacement strainer that extends its reach via standard garden auto-sprinkler system tubing. Fishes swimming nearby are protected by a cage. The suction is divided between the vents in the strainer and cage-end. No compromise with filtration coverage.

While I was at it I made a standard replacement strainer in case anyone needs it.
