3D model of a shape discovered earlier this year as a possible solution to the question of “how few shapes can we use to tile infinitely without repeating a pattern?” Until this shape was developed and tried, the answer had been 2. This tile has been dubbed the “Einstein”, or “one stone” in German.Made up of 8 congruent kites, the Einstein, along with it's mirrored self, can be tiled infinitely without repeating the perimeter pattern, though the patterns and shapes the kites make will slowly appear as tiles are added together.
