We, Team IUT Mars Rover want to make a mechanical ventilator to support patients with ARDS in emergency situation and low resource setting which will be much easier to implement according to our country`s (Bangladesh) facilities. We target to achieve that by automating the BVM. It’s tiring for human operator to compress BVM repeatedly and often operator doesn’t do it correctly. Hence, we want to automate the process using some precise parameters and with an assist control mode. Its low weight will make it portable. In our design most of the parts can be 3D printed making the model perfect for mass production in less time. In our system, user can give input the breath rate, tidal volume and I/E ratio. We will have pressure sensor and flow rate sensor to accurately measure the pressure and the air flow rate. With breath rate, tidal volume and I/E ratio as variables we will determine the pressure. A rechargeable battery will run the whole system. We want to use Arduino mega as the brain of the system.
