Credit to MARCELRV over on cults3d.com for designing the original bracket. Their design had a number of advantages over similar offerings. The orientation provides easy access to the thumb screw and if you went for a transparent extruder then the gears and filament path are easily visible.
The only disadvantage I found with the original design was a lack of strength on the upright section. This lead to the weight of the stepper motor gradually bending and snapping the bracket over time. I know some people just print a new one, but I thought I’d add a triangular section at the end to provide stiffness to the upright and add strength. There’s still plenty of room to access the Bowden fitting and so far it’s looking good.
