This is a spool holder remix that solves a few of my problems and hopefully some of yours too. I build it for my Ender 3 Pro but if you modify the bar pieces you can adjust it to what you need. I used English parts because that's what I had laying around my basement, but Metric should work too. Substitute a 5/16 for an M8.
Notable Features:
Key way to make adding and removing the spool easier
Keyway to prevent the nut from backing out
Spool Cones that can accommodate any size spool you're using
Nylon nut to adjust bearing tension
STL and STP files are included in case you need to make changes
Parts:
1 - 5/16" Nylon Nut (Goes on the end of the spool holder to adjust tension)
1 - 5/16" Steel Nut (Goes on the cone part to secure the bolt to the bar)
1 - 5/16" 4/7-5" long Hex head Bolt. Fully Threaded (Not shown in the picture but you can figure it out)
2 - 608 Roller Skate Bearings. (Commonly found in skate boards, roller skates) You can salvage these from a thrift store if the wheels
