i have seen some shims etc for these printers. but they never fitted quite right. as the issue wasn't so much the spacing out, but was the actual block not being square. on doing some investigation i found that although the block measured 9.9mm by 12.12mm, it wasn't actually square where it mounts to the upright. it is in fact 12.12mm where it mounts to the upright, but 11.9 where to countersink heads are, meaning the flat surface where the motor mounts to is in fact at an 90.6 deg angle to the uprights, which is why the z axis bar is tight as it get down towards the bottom. this and the fact the motor needs to be spaced out between 0.1-0.2mm.
so i made this block that replaced the original one. it kills two birds with one stone. straitens up the motor as well at spaces it off enough that the bar simply slides into the coupler with ease. this in turn makes the z axis far more smoother and eliminates anymore binding. after some use i've noted a significant decrease in temps on the z
