I have a large LACK table in my living room that recently became my 3-year-old daughter’s favorite play table. Unfortunately, the lower shelf makes it difficult for her to use comfortably. Since I was concerned that removing the shelf might make the table unstable - it’s actually the most rigid part of the entire structure - I decided to reinforce the way the legs are mounted. I designed brackets that “hold” the legs from both sides, transferring any diagonal loads and improving overall stability. Each bracket includes 5 mm mounting holes, and I used 5×20 mm wood screws for assembly. The fit is tight, but that results in a noticeably sturdier table. I need to test my design with the smaller LACK tables I’m using as shelves for my printing equipment.
