About the size of a fox, it stood roughly 30–40 cm tall at the shoulder and weighed around 4–5 kg. It had four toes on its front feet and three on its hind feet, adapted for walking on soft, forested ground. Its low-crowned teeth were suited for browsing soft leaves rather than grazing grass.
