Equation-Driven Pots - Legacy
Equation-Driven Pots is a generative 3D design project for creating printable plant pots from mathematical equations.
This legacy collection contains 3D models from earlier stages of the project. These models come from different iterations of the design workflow and are shared as examples, archives, and starting points for exploration. They were not printed by me, but others are welcome to use them, remix them, or build on them.
Instead of sculpting forms manually, the project defines shape through radius functions. This makes it possible to generate twists, petals, waves, lobes, ribs, scales, and other sculptural forms while still keeping the result usable as a real pot.
Over time, the project expanded through several workflows, including:
cylindrical forms defined by equations such as r(z, theta)
spherical forms defined by equations such as r(theta, phi)
textured workflows that separate overall form from surface relief
multi-color workflows
