I got sick of how expensive NAS enclosures were, especially those that could house over 5 drives, so I built my own, (theoretically) infinitely expandable solution. Note this will work with standard 3.5" HDDs up to 1" thick (standard size). But of course you can also use 2.5-3.5" adapter for SSDs. Each frame can support up to 6 drives.
It is intended on becoming an open-frame, all-encompassed NAS server by means of integrated standoffs. I have included some of the parts I built for mine in case you can reuse them. Otherwise, to build your own parts, just follow the spacing pictured (92.50mm, 67.00mm on the x-axis, 32.00mm on the z-axis) for your mounting points.
All holes are designed to work with standard 6#-32 Hard Drive screws.
I recommend these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08RHSH5X9
Power meter: KWS-AC301 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGXX92SK
LCD display: Chinese 7" 1024*600 https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806897360383.html
