I built this case because I needed a compact platform to connect sensors and a 3.7V li ion battery for my homeassistant projects. The D1mini ESP8266 board can be flashed with e.g. esphome (https://esphome.io/) or tasmota (https://tasmota.github.io/docs/) and connected to your homeassistant instance.
To connect your peripherals/sensors to the D1mini you can use the D1mini development shield:
