We had problems with the Bowden tubing getting caught on the rollers carriage frame when the printer would go to the "Home" position.
Over the years, the end of the Bowden tubing had been trimmed to the point where it was getting quite short. When the Bowden tubing is short, it tends NOT to lean off to the side much (would go straight up and then right back down). This caused the tubing to to stay to close to the 20x20 frame. You would have to watch the printer when it was being "Homed" because with the tubing in that position it would grab the roller carriage frame top as it went up towards the "Home" position. We needed to keep the tubing just a little bit away from the frame enable to keep it from catching.
You will need slightly longer bolts when mounting the new 5 mm thick plate. Also, the head of bolt that that is in the adjustment slot has to be on the inside, otherwise if the bolt is to long it will catch on the roller carriage frame.
