In order to demonstrate the Makerbot Digitizer to our customers, I raided my wife's curio cabinet for interesting little figurines. This fairy is actually our granddaughter's. But now we can make as many copies as we wish!
As with most objects that have more complex features than the famous Makerbot Gnome, this took several passes in multiscan mode, using a different orientation for each pass (such as laying on its back, laying on its front, etc.). The Makerware for Digitizer software does an outstanding job stitching the different scans together and makes a watertight mesh.
