This project presents an innovative and functional solution for the valorization of plastic waste. Through a staged process, the system transforms common PET bottles into a reusable, high-quality filament for 3D printing. The entire production chain, from material pre-treatment to final spooling, has been engineered to combine sustainability, efficiency, and accessibility, offering a bridge between home recycling and digital fabrication.
The first module was conceived as a heating and preparation chamber. Its purpose is to make plastic bottles suitable for the next processing stage. A large cylindrical cover serves as the enclosure where the bottles are placed and heated. The applied heat does not melt the plastic but raises it to a temperature that makes it more malleable and less brittle.
