Got fed up with builds for filaments spools. So, made my version. It's a "one fits all" whatever your configuration, this one will be usable.
It's simple to make; adaptable to any filament spool size; uses bearings for smooth rolling.
Parts needed: aluminium 8mm rod (cheap, easy to cut); Rope + 4x 3mm screws (or you could use 3DP filament, slide it in the slots and heat+press the ends); electric tape (it stretches + the glue lasts a long time); and 4x 608ZZ bearings
The rope goes in the slot between the elements to prevent them from sliding apart.
Bonus: anything that stops the entire build from sliding (when you arrive at the end of the roll; you'll need more friction) : soft PVC sheet; rubber band (these tend to dry and break with time); caouchouc (rubber from and old bike tire); etc.
Notes:
- put the tape on the rods after inserting the bearings. Stretch while applying the tape, and make more than one turn so that the tape grips on itself. The purpose of the tape
