This is a spool holder that I created for my Creality Ender 3. I saw many nice designs on Thingiverse, but I did not see exactly what I was wanting. I was looking for something that met the following criteria:
- Rolls smoothly
- Could be rotated to any angle for mounting
- Uses standard 608 bearings (8mmx22mmx7mm) such as are used on a skateboard
- Allowed the original bayonet style "nut" to be reused in mounting
What I came up with may look similar to some of the other spool holders, but met my specific requirements. Use the bearings and screws I had on hand, it was easy to use, and it rolls quite easily.
To make this spool holder, you will need the following:
- Filament Spool Holder Mount (1)
- Filament Spool Holder (2)
- 608 Bearings (2)
- M4x16 Hex Socket Button Head Cap Screw (2)
When assembling, the bearings are an intentionally tight fit on the spool holder. I used a small block of wood and a hammer to tap them on. The spool holder can be rotate
