After getting frustrated with the time that it took to use the conventional, two-piece spool holders that were inserted into both sides of the filament spool, I decided to design this one-piece spool roller.
It has now made my task of changing filament much easier!!
The square end on the roller is in case the spool tries to slide off that end. The other end is open (no square retainer) so that I can just slide the spools on and off the roller.
The hole that goes through the roller is for the threaded rod that came with my Anet A8. You may have to do some drilling if your threaded rod is too small. Mine fit snugly, but I drilled it anyway to give it more freedom to roll on the rod.
As of yet, I have had no issues with spools trying to slide off the side.
Enjoy!
Update (8/1/19):
I figured out, much to my dismay, that some of my spools were too small for the roller which is 55mm in diameter. I've added a file with a smaller, 51mm roller.
