Filament Spool Tool Caddy

I needed a way to better organize a set of metric nut drivers that I bought at a flea market. I thought about printing a dedicated rack but didn't want to use up half a spool of filament doing it!

What you see here is a way to re-pupose an empty 3D filament spool into a tool caddy by simply printing a few clips to "elevate" the spool off of the work bench. This allows longer tools (ie: nut drivers) to be fully suspended and not drag on the the bench. This approach doesn't use much filament or take much time to print and worked well for me. Just print 3 to 5 pieces and clip them around the parimeter of an empty spool. I found that an old medicine bottle that fit nicely in the center of spool to serve as a catch all for pens, pencils, and smaller tools.

Two versions of the clip are included. The basic part (shown in the photo) lifts the spool off of the bench surface by 19mm. The "TallBoy" variant lifts the spool by 32mm and is useful if you have longer tools to deal with
