FistHand is designed by Mike LI, Hong Kong Maker Club. It is a remix of the Gripper Thumb Terminal Device originally designed by Skip Meetze. The aim of the design is to make 3D printed prosthetic hands as functional devices. FistHand is a prosthetic hand with voluntary open design for amputees without palm or partial lower forearm. The working mechanism is similar to traditional body powered prosthetic hand, by using cables to link the movement of the body to the prosthesis and to control it. Moving the body in a certain way will pull on the cable and cause it to open and close the devices. (http://www.upperlimbprosthetics.info/index.php?p=1_9_Body-Powered) The advantages of 3D printed design are low production cost, rapid design for fitting different amputees and “Hand” shape appearance for amputee's acceptance.
FistHand is designed for its first priority as a functional device. We hope amputees wearing this prosthetic hand would help them to be able to work in their working env
