I made this key chain for flat earthers and lovers of unusual map projections.Depending on your worldview, it's either, an accurate representation of the flat earth we know and love, or an azimuthal equidistant projection centered on the North Pole.I've offset the land mass height so the ice wall (Antarctica) sits 0.6mm or 1.2mm (depending on the model you print) above the ocean surface and the rest of the land masses sit at around 2/3 of the ice wall height. This gives a neat opportunity for a 3 colour print, if you insert a pause above 3mm and another above about 3.4mm.I printed a 0.6mm model at 0.08mm layer height and inserted pauses before 3.08 and 3.48mm. This gave me 5 layers and 2 layers for the land masses and ice wall.I used this site: https://www.worldmapgenerator.com/en/wizard/step/projection/ for the base image and messed about with it in GIMP to make a good texture for printing. The original image is covered by this creative commons license: Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International. Here's the image I used for the texture:There's enough detail in the model to allow it to be scaled up a long way. I think it's better printed at 125% scale than at 100%, but I think 100% is a better size for a key chain.Print Settings: This is a dead easy print. If you want to print dual oe tri colour, and you should definitely think about, put a pause in after 3mm (and 3.3mm/3.6mm) z height. I'd suggest making the top and bottom thick e.g. 0.8mm to make your print more robustRecommended Parameters: Slicer software: Creality Print 6.1+ Printer: Any FDM/FFF (Filament) printer. Filaments: ASA, PLA, PETG, TPU Infill: 25% Retraction: Material Defaults Nozzle Temp: PLA 220-230, PETG: 240-250, TPU 215-225 or as manufacturer specified. Support: None Brim: None Assembly: None! Just print it and pull it off the build plate.
