My kids were tired of upright napkin holders that make it difficult to pull out one napkin at a time. You pull one, and a bunch pull with it due to friction. So they asked me to create a flat napkin holder. This is the size to hold "square" napkins that are about 6"x6" (15.25cm x 15.25cm). It has a lovely hexagonal cut pattern along the bottom and the sides that give an airy feel. And it has deep parabolic cuts on all four sides to make it easier to grab napkins out.
I was worried about whether the overhang from the larger hexagons (along the walls) would print well without supports, but they did, beautifully. There were various plastic "hairs" from the gaps, but I sanded them off easily with 1500 grit paper and then washed the whole thing in warm, soapy water. Kids are thrilled!
I may spray paint this later with a metallic silver I have, but we'll see if it's worthwhile. I printed it in gray PLA.
