Direct drive extruders have more benefits than disadvantages, but for Delta printers, the additional mass and inertia on the head is not welcome on printers designed for fast speed and accelerations.

Removing the motor from the head and transmitting the power with a flexible shaft is the solution...

Both use a single drive filament hobs gear. Both have a very high reduction (170 full steps/mm for the Zesty, and 270 for the Flexdrive), both are prone to have problems with the filament locking system... And Zesty nimble are completely out of stock.

This new design uses available dual drive gears. This version is for the smallest 17 tooth gears used into Sherpa or BMC extruders. Other design are in preparation for 18, 25,37 and 41 tooth gears (and 3 mm filament).
