My brother left a perfectly good floor lamp behind when he moved, except the metal shade thingy that faces upward toward the ceiling had a broken plastic nut.
I tried futilely to locate a cheap replacement online to no avail. So i grabbed some calipers and designed my own functional replacement piece. Not even sure what thread it is or what the lamp parts are called. But it works.
EDIT 10-7-2018:
The thread dimensions were slightly off and too loose, so i fixed them. In addition i created a large chamfer to be able to use TP-Link Smart Bulb as the old fixture was too wide and tall to allow a TP-LINK smart bulb to work. I also added two cutouts to allow tightening with a penny or screwdriver.
