This a remix... quite honestly I have no idea what extruder package it came from.

This is a NON-FUNCTIONAL gear intended to provide a visual indicator that the filament is successfully feeding into the Bowden tube. It has been sized and reworked to be a press fit onto the shaft of the NEMA 17 stepper of the Bowden extruder.

Prior to this, my method was to sit really still and watch for miniscule movements in the filament spool. However, at times when there is a filament jam, you can't be sure if the filament spool is actually moving or you had one too many beers the night before.

With this gear fitted, there's absolutely no question whether the filament is feeding or not. However, it may be necessary to remove the gear prior to swapping out filaments.

Personally, I found the default extruder to be adequate (if a little clumsy) for my needs. I did experiment with several different extruder designs, however I failed to find one that was completely reliable.

Additionally,
