Built to take account for a life proof case and allow space for charger to fit underneath it. Plus a fox.
On this version the cavity for the charger is just not quite deep enough so the phone (with the case) doesn't sit flat. I'm pretty certain without the lifeproof case it would be fine.
A minor annoyance - you can't press the button without the phone sliding backwards to a straigt up position
