**I found a weak point in my initial design. Corrected version has been in use for over a week and shows no signs of failure**
A common failure with the ice maker used in Frigidaire french door refrigerators is the integral motor shaft the rotates the ice tray. The motor has a hollow rectangular plastic shaft that mates to a rectangular recess in the ice tray. This shaft is brittle and will shear off the front of the motor. Rather than spend 100+ on a new ice tray, I came up with a solution. You'll need to trim any remaining plastic fragments from the front of the motor, leaving a flat surface (pictured). This part then slides into the open cavity in the motor and provides a new drive shaft for the ice tray.
