The Chuck Vise requires an imperial screw, which is impossible to get in European hardware stores. To bridge that gap, this remix adds a printable screw on top of "Ball 2" — a functional solution while I wait for my screws to arrive from China.
How to print:
- Use the wider 3/8"-16 version if possible: If you have a compatible clamp, go for the file called ball_2_with_screw_3-8-16. Both Smallrig Crab and Smallrig Superclamp are compatible.
- Print at an angle: To keep layers from separating, print the model at a 90° angle.
- Add extra perimeters: I use 4 instead of the default 2 to make the shell harder.
- Use a strong material if possible: Choose a mechanically resistant filament like ASA. PLA works too, but be aware of its limited strength. PETG has good layer adhesion but bends under pressure, so I avoid it.
- Use a generous amount of infill: This part is quite thin, so I like to strengthen it by increasing infill to at least 50%. There's nothing worse than a bendy vise.
