Based off of the Gänsemännchenbrunnen fountain in Nuremberg.
The Gänsemännchenbrunnen Is one of the oldest Fountains in Nuremberg. The name refers to the fountain figure, which depicts a famer with two geese under his arm.
The fountain was built in honor of Philip Melanchthon, who was responsible for establishing the first urban education system in Nuremberg immediately after the introduction of Lutheranism by the city in 1525.
The geese represent the choirboys. The cantor or director of the choir was also the teacher of the youth of Nuremberg. Hence the geese represent the students of Nuremberg and the statue represents Melanchthon leading his young students into a new era.
