This is the case for my 4-Player Gamecube to N64 adapter.
For converting the Gamecube Controller inputs to the N64 I used 4 arduino nano, one for each port.
The connection between the console and the adapter is made with modified N64 controller extention cables. I cut off one side and soldered on a usb plug.
