GD Mk.3 outer rollbar

The outer roll bar leg on the Mk.3 Gardner Douglas GD427 sits in a curve. I made this jig so I could measure the curve at 20 points around the circumference. I also drilled 20 holes further in to get more readings.

The ASCII points file is attached (x y z) - the highest point on the bodywork corresponds to the lowest value (3.2mm).

Loaded into a CAD programme as a point cloud, a surface can be created which can then be used to cut a cylinder to make a properly fitted escutcheon
