****** 5/13/15 - If you want to pick up the round carabiners, you can get it from here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/product/B0073KCF94/?tag=grabcad0b-20 -If you want to pick up a similar Abus weatherproof padlock, you can do so here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/product/B0056ARAEI/?tag=grabcad0b-20 ******* 3/9/15 So here is my entry for the GE Quick Connect Challenge. Essentially I tried to create something based on the following: 1) was extremely easy to understand and use (I believe the solution can be applied using just one hand) 2) would be very quick to implement 3) kept tooling costs low by using low cost materials, existing technologies and inexpensive manufacturing techniques. I also only slightly modified the cavity part and only to the extent that there is now a 2 halved mold with a slide (there may already be a slide in place to begin that was used to create an already existing hole on the cavity body. Function: By using the 4mm diameter wire-form and the cavity as a type of fulcrum and so long as a relatively thick piece of silicone with a reasonable degree of deformation is used as well, the device should perform as intended. However, increasing the length of the cavity and brick without increasing the diameter of the wire-form may cause some sealing failure to occur. Also, what should be a reasonable conclusion is that a more rigid rectangular structure can theoretically be used instead of the wire-form within my entry to accomplish the same thing, leaving my overall design solution, it's use and performance intact. The quick connect logo naturally can be removed form the design as it does considerably bump up the complexity of the tooling and can be applied as a post processing step or via pad printing method or similar. ******** I've uploaded a set of images and renderings that should provide a clear(er) explanation of how the device works and the parts involved. I really don't know what else to say about the device as it's pretty elementary...but hot looki
