This model is part of a series called Yet, Another Mechanism (YAM).In this series, I take mechanism ideas suggested by viewers, along with strange or interesting mechanisms I stumble across online, and turn them into physical, 3D printable models. No optimization goals, no reinvention, just making odd mechanisms real. YAM#1 is based on a multi Geneva style mechanism. A central drive wheel with a single pin intermittently drives five slotted wheels arranged around it. I focused mainly on the base and outer geometry to emphasize the visual motion rather than the pure mechanics. Each slotted wheel is partially covered so that only one vertex is visible at a time. Coloring each vertex differently creates a simple but satisfying visual effect as the mechanism runs.
