The mountain howitzer was drawn using my original toy and a pair of 6 inch calipers. Although the file is presented full scale, I modeled it so that it was optimized when printed at 25%. Unless you stay in that range it may have too much or too little detail.
The gun is a tight enough fit that once mounted on the carriage you can raise and lower the angle like the real toy. Also, I added support material under the axle. This gives you more surface area to glue the tires on and provides support to prevent them from shearing off once complete.
The parts are modeled with supports on, but since it is so small it wasn’t too much trouble to clean off. I printed the gun carriage with the top surface up, reason being that the underside of each part is the least visible so that’s were any support residue would be least visible. I had better luck printing the gun with the barrel pointed up.
The tires should be printed with the hubcaps up, no support.
Much respect and gratitude to t
