Use the Customizer option in Thingiverse to print out custom labels for your presents. The intention is to attach the tag with a piece of yarn or ribbon to the present.
The base is 1mm thick and the border/text is another 1mm thick, so put a command in your gcode at the layer immediately after 1mm to change filament to another color for a tag that pops.
